About me
Hi! I’m James, a 3rd-year Computer Science undergraduate at the University of Hull. My primary interests within the field are User Interfaces and the Computer Vision aspect of Machine Learning.
Outside of my studies, I love the outdoors, with a particular passion for water sports – I work as a Water Sports Instructor during the summer holidays. I’m also actively involved in the Scout Movement, both locally and nationally.

3rd year computer science student
Currently a thrid year computer science student at the university of hull. From learning how to code using object orientated programing practices to how machine learning algorithms work. Across my three years I’ve learnt about algorithms and data structures, natural language processing, computer vision and so much more

UKHQ Local communications, team member
Speaking up and speaking out are two of the many skills for life we teach the half a million young people every week. But as a movement we aren’t good as speaking out about the impact we are having in our community. As a team local communications look at helping our volunteers share their stories. Helping us grow as a movement. My role focuses on the data behind what we.
Water Sports instructor
Since 2022 over the summer I’ve worked as a water sports instructor. Initially, my role was exclusively an aqua park instructor leading high-quality
customer and safety-focused sessions, to my current role, which includes being able to instruct
a range of activities and provide first aid. Throughout this role I’ve developed new skills including
customer service, working in a team as well as how to stay calm and find a way forward in
stressful situations.

Cubs Team leader – Trinity Scout Group
Every week as a cubs section we help around 25 young people be themself and find themself,
all while learning skills for life. As part of my role as team leader for cubs, i work with the rest of
the cubs team to develop a program of activities as well as organise events such as camps and
activity days. This role helps me build upon my organisation skills as well as people skills when
communicating with parents, young people as well as the wider group’s team.
